The Ventura Projects drew attention to new developments in the design world during the Salone del Mobile and helped some studios launch their careers. After ten years, it is now over, announces founder Margriet Vollenberg.

Due to the Corona crisis, many events have been canceled or postponed this year. So also the Salone del Mobile, which will take place again only in April 2021. One institution that has established itself over the past ten years as part of Milan Design Week has been Ventura Projects, first known as Ventura Lambrate and eventually as Ventura Centrale.

Founder Margriet Vollenberg now announced that the program will be completely discontinued due to the postponed Milan Furniture Fair and uncertain future prospects. With Ventura Projects, Vollenberg gave up-and-coming designers the opportunity to present their projects and work to a larger audience. Special emphasis was placed on innovative approaches and exceptional design and manufacturing processes. Vollenberg's Studio Organization in Design implemented the curated exhibition, which most recently took place at Milan's Central Station.

"It is with great concern that I have witnessed how the Corona crisis has affected the entire world and the event and design industry, and thus also my company. I have spent many sleepless nights worrying about whether and how I could save or transform my company to adjust to a new normal so that I can continue to serve the design world and support talent as we have always done. It is with a heavy heart that I have finally come to the conclusion that it is no longer possible to realize my dream and, by extension, the dreams of many designers and design studios. Current circumstances leave me no choice but to end Ventura Projects," Margriet Vollenberg shares in a statement.

There is great consternation about the end of the program. Dutch designer Maarten Baas says, "I was shocked when Margriet called me to tell me the news. With the loss of Ventura Projects, a great impetus has been lost." Stockholm and Venice-based designer Luca Nichetto recalls the first edition, "We all had a certain pioneering spirit, great passion and curiosity."
