LOQI x Heart&Blood: #WARUMNEIN Special Edit Bag

LOQI x Heart&Blood: #WARUMNEIN Special Edit Bag

Advertising | #WARUMNEIN has been trolling here and there through our Instagram feed for a long time. From a slip of the tongue by our Lithuanian cousin Ruta, it's practically become a catchphrase, a hashtag that can be used almost anytime and underscores an attitude towards life. We think we should laugh more and not take ourselves too seriously. Champagne for breakfast? Going to bed without taking off your makeup? Tennis socks with an evening dress? Easter decorations at Christmas? Yes, #whyno! With LOQI we launched a limited edition transparent bag of only 140 pieces at the beginning of December high above Berlin in the LOQI Tower on the 13th floor. Of course, there were also many #WARUMNEIN moments at the party. We are looking forward to your #WARUMNEIN situations! Feel free to share them with us!

LOQI? Mehr über das Berliner Taschenbrand

Wir wetten, jeder kennt bereits LOQI. That's right, the small foldable bags with famous artist prints can be found in almost every museum store from New York to Paris. Besides the foldable bags, there are bags in all kinds of formats and even suitcase covers. Behind LOQI are 20 designers and 100 individual designs. From smileys to Van Gogh motifs - there is hardly a museum store in the world where you can't buy a LOQI bag. LOQI bags are already available in over 5,000 cities worldwide. Wow! We talked in a small interview with Belinda Klaes one of the founders of LOQI how they managed to get from Berlin to the whole world.

Behind the scene: who are the people and founder behind LOQI? When was LOQI founded?

LOQI was founded by 3 partners in 2013. Belinda Klaes from Australia. Zhuang Li from China. Katsumi Iwata from Japan. Our Chinese partner and factory has 30% shares in our LOQI brand. This is how we ensure our quality and high ethical standards.

How you came up with the idea to found LOQI?

I felt: I could build a brand myself. I'm going to be the Apple of the bag world. I didn't reinvent the wheel, the jute bag already existed. But beautiful is different. How can you give a simple product a design edge? The product is simple. The designs are complex. That's exciting and challenging at the same time.

I could just leave at any time. Tomorrow. I would need a LOQI bag. Nothing else. It frees me up.

What does LOQI mean?

A bag is what everyone needs, every day. "Lo(ci)" is location in Latin. Everywhere in the world. "Chi" is the good Chinese spirit. "Qi" is the air of life.

How do you came in touch with all the museum stores worldwide?

Museums are a passion. Day & night, we call them. Occasionally, we get to visit them. There's an inspiring upside being in sales, selling every day to this channel.

What`s your favorite museum in the world? What is your bestseller? Do you have a favorite design? What was the most special bag you created?

Louisiana, Denmark for whom we created the Poul Gernes Dots on a Reflective Bag. It's a special edition.

The LOQI tower became a beloved event space. Why do you choose this special location?

The horizon. Coming from Australia, you grow up with wide open spaces. You can always see the horizon. It's a reminder to set your horizons high, anything is possible.

From Finnish forests: Woodio shapes tubs and sinks from wood

Woodio is shaking up the bathroom - with wood-based basins, bathtubs and even a toilet. We introduce the young Finnish bathroom brand.

The "Flow" freestanding bathtub (3999 euros) is made of a solid wood composite of real wood chips and resins.

Sustainable, but rethought: Wood is almost unrecognizable in bathrooms by Woodio

Wood is part of the DNA of Finnish design. So far, so good. But the fact that sanitary objects are now also made of poplar and birch wood is a surprise. "Our mission is to stand out from conventional materials and production methods in the bathroom industry," says Petro Lahtinen. He is aware that the market is highly competitive, but he sees his opportunity in the niche. Lahtinen, who has a doctorate in chemistry, had already been in the wood business for several years before founding Woodio together with Antti Pärssinen. Originally, they had the idea of producing tiles from wood. "Ironically, we now produce many bathroom products, just not tiles," he says with a laugh.

Woodio also furnishes hotel projects. In the "Sokos Hotel" in Kupittaa, the "Soft60" sink was effectively combined with a palm tree wallpaper.

"Sustainability alone does not sell. People want products that look good - it always has and always will."

A year after the company was founded, Woodio's first product hit the market in 2017. Meanwhile, the manufacturer plays with 17 different washbasin models, a freestanding bathtub, a toilet and accessories such as wall hooks the entire bathroom space. All products are made in Finland - from a waterproof composite of wood chips and resins. "It is important for us to produce ourselves," says Lahtinen. "It's the only way we can control the quality of our products and develop the technologies." The sustainable composite material is joined by a straightforward design from Pentagon Design in Helsinki. A wall-hung, technically sophisticated WC has just been launched, which Woodio spent four years developing. Like all products, "Block" is kept very simple and therefore suits very different interior styles. "Sustainability alone doesn't sell," says Lahtinen. "People want products that look good - it always has and always will."

The organically shaped, hand-flattering "Soft60" washbasin is also available in the dark shade "Char," €499.

Woodio contributed both the circular washbasin "Soft40" and the wall-hung WC to this interior. "Block" is the young company's latest product, backed by four years of development work.

Humor, glamour and hypnosis: the latest trends from Paris.

Humor, glamour and hypnosis: the latest trends from Paris.

Pouf Chachachà by Masquespacio for Houtique. Photo: Houtique

From Cologne, the design caravan moves on to Paris. At the furnishing fair Maison & Objet and the textile show Déco Off taking place in parallel in the showrooms of Saint-Germain, no heavyweight facts are negotiated. It's about accessories, surfaces, colors and patterns: precisely what determines the atmosphere of a room. The main ingredients: Humor, glamour and the ability to hypnotize.

Decoration is a tricky word. What French interpret as a fine way of life, Germans take as a savage form of insult. Decorators decorate shop windows, not homes, Teutonic designers immediately think. But Déco in French stands for living. And so, of course, the back door is open to the decorative and opulent, or rather, it is simply part of the design. And so the Paris furnishing fair Maison & Objet resembles a huge potpourri in which things mix. Established design manufacturers stand booth to booth with young brands and also those that provide for stylistic species richness.

Rhythm and dynamics
Of course, Art Deco plays an important role on the Seine - the French counter-answer to Bauhaus Modernism, so to speak. ENOstudio from Paris shows the wall lamp Galon by Guillaume Delvigne, which protrudes into the room as a matte black, chromed or brass-colored steel bracket. The light source is hidden by black fringes hanging down from the bracket, reminiscent of flowing evening gowns in the jazz clubs of the twenties.

Exotic feeling is brought in by Spanish brand Houtique through a collaboration with design studio Masquespacio. The fringed lamp Wink, shown as a prototype in 2017, has now grown into an entire collection that includes the armchair Mambo, the pouf Chachachà and a bar stool of the same name. They, too, are adorned by fringes in bright colors that inevitably put you in a good mood and create rhythm and dynamism in your home four walls. Or as the manufacturer puts it, "There's no sorrow, there's no sadness, there's no decay." The rose-colored glasses become a furnishing strategy.

Soft as dough
Humorous continues at the stand of Seletti. With the Street Lamp Studio Job have taken up the archetype of a 19th century cast iron gas lantern and bent it to the side in imitation of Achille Castiglioni's famous Arcolamp - almost as if the metal base had become as soft as play-doh under the influence of great heat and simply given way. Added is a cordless, compact table version of the lamp, which cuts a perfect figure especially on classic Parisian bistro tables and their cast-iron frames. In contrast to the curved XXL format, the mini lamp remains steadfast as a one.

Risen from trash
Postmodernism and eco-consciousness Tom Dixon brings under one hat. The specially developed material Swirl shows strongly structured surfaces and is used for the production of accessories such as candle holders or bookends. In the production process, powdery waste from the marble industry is processed with resin and pigments to form blocks that can be worked with a saw or on a lathe. The exciting effect that can be achieved with this is shown by the candlestick made of three staggered cuboids with different structures, crowned by an upright cylinder with a candle holder.

Mini instead of Maxi
Another eye-catching trend of this Maison & Objet are compact dimensions. After all, anyone can revel in size. To succeed in a small space requires a special flair. La Chance presents the small chest of drawers Bump 2, which features shimmering galvanized steel fronts and feet and a marble shelf. Hemispherical hollows are embedded in the two doors, hiding the opening mechanism. The two Czech designers Jan Plechac and Henry Wielgus were inspired by the eye-catching seventies panels that cover Prague's metro stations.

Tiny as a chick, Lexon's Mina lamp is 8.3 centimeters tall and seven centimeters in diameter. The design by Andrea Quaglio and Manuela Simonelli is portable, recharges via USB connection and provides light for six hours. Shrinking the proportions opens up entirely new application possibilities. After all, the lamp can be placed where "normal-sized" specimens would never fit. Also, the handy dimensions tempt all the more to actually touch the lamp and not leave it in one place most of the time.

Presentation Progetto Tessuti by Dimorestudio. Photo: Tadzio

Renaissance meets Memphis
Milan-based carpet manufacturer cc-Tapis was already present at the Cologne furniture fair imm cologne, but additional models have been presented in Paris. The four carpets from the Cinquecento collection by Studio Klass play with spatial depth. Paintings by Renaissance painters Domenico Venezia, Giovanni Bellini and Ludovico Mazzolino served as models, and their pictorial structures were translated into basic geometric shapes. In the process of abstraction, the people depicted disappeared, while the perspectives of the architectural environment remained. Here, too, the new throws an anchor into the past - and serves up the forms seemingly removed from eternity with a postmodern wink.

Temporal fabrics
Those who don't like to travel quite so far through time can also stop off in more recent history. Milan-based designer duo Dimorestudio's textile collection Push It revives the late sixties to early seventies with geometric triangular patterns. At Missoni Home, the cover Stripes Mosaic at first sight reminds of patchwork. In reality, it is a continuous fabric divided into irregularly staggered color fields with stripes. What this is all about, the Italian fashion house explains thus: "With hypnotic mood and strong magnetism, generous spaces are illuminated." Sounds like a captivating feel-good strategy that certainly won't leave you bored.

Christmas Special Door 6: Kitchen equipment from Brabantia

Christmas Special Door 6: Kitchen equipment from Brabantia

Oh how we are pleased that the traditional company Brabantia is again in our Christmas special this year. Brabantia we have already presented to you many times. The family business in the 4th generation and online store with branches around the world, has a lot in its portfolio. Especially when it comes to washing & ironing, kitchen & cooking or bathroom & toilet, there is plenty of choice here. But before I tell you any more, let's get to today's prize:

Storage tin and no plastic for Muesli for more order

Large bread basket with breakfast in the kitchen

Door no. 6: Kitchen set consisting of bread box, cutting board and storage jars

Hold on, dear ones, because behind today's door is nothing less than a super help for an organized kitchen: you can win a folding bread box, a practical cutting board and various storage jars that are stackable.

The folding bread bin in the color pine green not only keeps breads fresh behind the flap, no, it also keeps a practical tray on the bin ready for food. Made of stainless materials, 36% of which is recycled material, the bread bin is 98% recyclable after use.

Also included is the two in one cutting board that doubles as a serving board. I've been using the board myself for some time now and for me, it's ideal for preparing food as well as a tray for snacks and drinks. Oh and yes, the board is dishwasher safe, how convenient.

If you've resolved to get a little more organized next year - at least as far as the kitchen is concerned - the storage jars that come with the winning set are just what you need. A total of three jars in the sizes 1.1 liters, 0.6 liters and 0.3 liters are part of the prize set. The jars keep both dry and moist food fresh for longer, also thanks to the silicone lid. This is also good for stacking the jars.

About Brabantia

Brabantia has been around for a long time. Because already 100 years ago Brabantia has developed its first designs. Today, as described at the beginning, the company can be found all over the world. They have offices and production facilities from Austria to the USA and from China to Finland. Yet their roots are not so far away, namely in the Netherlands, more precisely in the province of Brabant. It was there that the first milk cans and jugs were produced by the great-grandfather Van Elderen in 1919.

Nowadays, however, Brabantia produces much more and, with its range of simple household helpers, makes everyday life easier for many households - now including ours. One of the company's centerpieces is the pedal garbage can, which was manufactured as early as 1952.

The products are not only practical, but also beautiful and by no means have to be hidden away in the cupboards of this world. In addition, the topic of sustainability has a great importance at the Dutch company. Thus, during production, care is already taken to ensure that materials can be recycled. In order to maintain or even improve the standard, the company is also audited every two years by the Cradle to Cradle Institute.

Today, the fourth generation is at the helm of the family business and we are excited to see what beautiful everyday objects will continue to surprise us from the Netherlands in the future. In any case, we are very happy about this year's win of the traditional company and keep our fingers crossed for you.

My Seychelles Travel Guide with 10 Tips

  • Helena , fashion blog, Seychelles, travel blog

Already the second time it went for me to the Seychelles and also this time I was just thrilled. After I spent my first visit on a beautiful beach, I was on my second visit in the capital at the port and could get to know the luxurious side of the Seychelles. A yacht lines up here after the other and also the prices for simple food are not exactly cheap. Who makes vacation here, should have the necessary small change. What distinguishes the Seychelles for me are not the big yachts or the expensive food, but 'something untouched and unconsumed'. Here you can find small, secluded bays and still untouched nature. While the rich vacation here, most inhabitants live in poor conditions and practice simple professions, such as fishermen, bird egg collectors and co. In this Seychelles Travel Guide I would like to give you 10 tips on what to do there.

Malmö Tips & Travel Diary: On the border to Copenhagen

Malmö is located in Sweden on the border with Denmark. The sea separates Copenhagen from Malmö and if you walk on the beach of Malmö, like me, you can see Copenhagen on the horizon. Especially if you are planning a Skandi tour, I can recommend you to spend a few days in Malmö. It takes about 30 minutes by train from Malmö to Copenhagen and the hotels are usually much cheaper than in Copenhagen. Malmö also has a lot to offer.

Travel inspiration/ destination pick: Cuba - Varadero & Santa Clara

  • Helena , Cuba, North America, Travel Blog

Some time ago I was in Cuba, more specifically in Santa Clara and Varadero. My father often told me about Cuba, because in his youth he flew there from Russia on business and fell in love with the island. Even today, he likes to reminisce as if he was there only yesterday. I was therefore positively biased and quite excited about what to expect there.

Hanukkah gifts: Via Maris Judaica designs are understated and modern

Hanukkah gifts: Via Maris Judaica designs are understated and modern

Jewish objects that conform to a modern design? Hardly existed until recently. The first collection of Via Maris provides a small revolution. For the beginning of the Festival of Lights, AD shows the most beautiful designs, perfect as a gift for Hanukkah.

Via Maris

New Yorker Dana Holler Schwartz actually works full time as a PR consultant. She knows how difficult it is to start her own label and never intended to for that very reason. Then she was looking for a mezuzah, Torah verses in a small scripture capsule, that had a modern look - and failed. Innovative designs for traditional Jewish objects, especially those used in ceremonies, are rare. Schwartz overcame her doubts, planning and designing for two years. The first Via Maris collection includes candlesticks, a mezuzah, hanukkia and candles that can also be given as gifts for Hanukkah this year.

Via Maris designs make the perfect Hanukkah gifts

Two in One The Menorah, also known as the Seven-Branched Candelabrum, is one of Judaism's most important symbols. This heavy design made of aluminum can be used as a box for the candles at the same time. Available for about 193 euros.

Simple and beautiful The mezuzah is often found on doorposts, the small writing capsule contains verses from the Torah. These are handmade in Israel by a scribe (soferet) and cost about 64 euros and is also an ideal gift for Hanukkah.

Vitra is planning a big splash at Milan Design Week this year. In addition to its booth at the Salone del Mobile, the Swiss furniture manufacturer is currently working on an installation that will ipremiere in the fantastic space of the former sports hall La Pelota in Brera.

This production is curated and designed by the Viennese designer Robert Stadler. His exhibition Typecasting. An Assembly of Iconic, Forgotten and New Vitra Characters is intended to be a room-filling panorama of projects, products and design studies by Vitra.

An initial press release on the subject states, "In the installation, Robert Stadler's point of view creates new cross-connections, narrative strands and interpretive possibilities for the Vitra project." The staging also takes up changes in society and their impact on established furniture typologies, it says. To this end, various designers were invited to give form to their ideas. The Vitra Design Museum will also present new and future projects in a dedicated area in the Pelota. Sounds like a must-see that will surely move on to other places. jk

Fashion blog 2022 with Valentine's Day outfit

On the fashion blog 2022 there is again a first outfit in the new year. This time it is about the Thttps://hypnotized-blog.com/deutscher-modeblog-deutschland/modeblog-2022-date-outfit-fuer-valentinstag/hema Valentine's Day. On 02/14/2022 it's already that time again, so it's time for a little inspiration. Since it's still pretty chilly in February, I'd lean towards something long-sleeved. You can't go much wrong with a figure-hugging dress. The 'little black dress' is particularly suitable here. To the dress I wear black pumps of the brand Lodi, which I found via Omoda. The yet very simple date outfit can be upgraded with eye-catching accessories. I like to wear big earrings and complete the look with red lips.

Fashion Blogger Frankfurt - Do they still exist?

Fashion Blogger Frankfurt Modeblogger Influenzier Fashion Week 2021 Silver Caramel Blog Hypnotized

Fashion Blogger Frankfurt - Do they still exist? Many of my fellow bloggers who have been very active posting on their fashion blogs for a long time seem to have given it up. Blogs from Frankfurt are still online, but nothing has been published on the pages themselves for a long time. I find that very unfortunate. Especially now, where 2021 the Fashion Week will take place in Frankfurt, are just fashion bloggers but those who should support this to represent Frankfurt as a fashion city. I still have a lot of fun blogging even after more than 10 years and I can't imagine my life without it. Instagram and TikTok are great apps for me to give free rein to creativity, but a lot of important content gets lost there and simply comes up short. I wonder if it's because of the blog medium or the fashion theme that fashion bloggers Frankfurt are dying out.
