New Yorker Dana Holler Schwartz actually works full time as a PR consultant. She knows how difficult it is to start her own label and never intended to for that very reason. Then she was looking for a mezuzah, Torah verses in a small scripture capsule, that had a modern look - and failed. Innovative designs for traditional Jewish objects, especially those used in ceremonies, are rare. Schwartz overcame her doubts, planning and designing for two years. The first Via Maris collection includes candlesticks, a mezuzah, hanukkia and candles that can also be given as gifts for Hanukkah this year.

Two in One The Menorah, also known as the Seven-Branched Candelabrum, is one of Judaism's most important symbols. This heavy design made of aluminum can be used as a box for the candles at the same time. Available for about 193 euros.

Simple and beautiful The mezuzah is often found on doorposts, the small writing capsule contains verses from the Torah. These are handmade in Israel by a scribe (soferet) and cost about 64 euros and is also an ideal gift for Hanukkah.
