Vitra is planning a big splash at Milan Design Week this year. In addition to its booth at the Salone del Mobile, the Swiss furniture manufacturer is currently working on an installation that will ipremiere in the fantastic space of the former sports hall La Pelota in Brera.

This production is curated and designed by the Viennese designer Robert Stadler. His exhibition Typecasting. An Assembly of Iconic, Forgotten and New Vitra Characters is intended to be a room-filling panorama of projects, products and design studies by Vitra.

An initial press release on the subject states, "In the installation, Robert Stadler's point of view creates new cross-connections, narrative strands and interpretive possibilities for the Vitra project." The staging also takes up changes in society and their impact on established furniture typologies, it says. To this end, various designers were invited to give form to their ideas. The Vitra Design Museum will also present new and future projects in a dedicated area in the Pelota. Sounds like a must-see that will surely move on to other places. jk
